The Alpine County Behavioral Health Services facility provides a new home for the county’s behavioral health services and reinforces the county’s emphasis on behavioral health as an integral component of the comprehensive health and wellness services provided to its residents.

The primary design objective was the creation of an environment specifically tailored to needs of the behavioral health program and associated wellness programs, while maintaining its place as part of the community infrastructure.

As with many of Greenbough Design’s projects, a combination of program steering group and user group meetings, as well as community outreach charette sessions, were employed to fully define the project goals, discuss options, and ultimately reach a final design which balances all project needs.

The extraordinary natural features of the site are integrated into the design of the building and grounds and are fundamental in creating an overall environment of care.
